We just wanted to let you know we have produced a play for the Rogue Theater Festival NYC, 2025. We filmed the play (as a staged reading) about a month ago and it will be available to stream from August 4th. We hope you have time to download the play and watch it.

What is Mazzolatura {FTP} all about?

In 2025, in an unnamed, Central European country, two secret police agents interrogate a 22-year-old woman — only to discover she is none other than Pope John Paul II. What follows is an absurd romp through the crimes of the “naughty ol’ Catholic Church,” including John Paul’s support for pedophile priests. But as the pope turns the tables by unveiling the agents’ own crimes, is it possible the pontiff will escape justice yet again?

Are there any content notes associated with the play?

It’s tough subject matter. There are content notes for: Discussion of child abuse, sexual assault and abuse, femicide, murder, murder of indigenous people, torture, genital mutilation, homophobia, transphobia, execution by forms cruel and unusual, child abduction, anti-Semitism, slavery, and other basically any historical activities of the
Catholic Church/the police. Oh, and swearing.

You may be offended if you are a practicing Catholic. Anyone more offended by scenes including Pope John Paul II swearing like a sailor than they are by the fact he allowed pedophiles to reach positions of power and stay there will probably not love it either, but to be honest, if that is you, then you have bigger problems than this.
