The Persuasion was founded in 2023 to create theatre featuring social commentary, humour, and insightful language for local actors. As a company we value changing perceptions around social norms, and creating the dialogues which allow our audience to feel challenged and provoked into further conversation on subjects they may not otherwise address.

Andrew Riddles
Andrew Riddles has written forever, with several short stories published. He founded The Persuasion in 2023 and BUYSEXUAL, his first play, won a best in festival award at Fringe Ottawa 2024. His second play, Third-Party, Blameless, was the winner of first prize at SOOP’s STN Festival in New York in November 2024 – a festival with 240 submissions. It also took home the Audience Choice Award – Best Play at The Theater Project’s THINK FAST Short Play Festival 2025. The full-length work, Mazzolatura {FTP}, was in the digital stream of The Rogue Theater Festival NYC, 2025.
Andrew’s work has appeared in Sumac Literary Journal, Molecule, Carleton University Writing Competition Magazine, Frighten the Horses, Viridine Literary, Type!, Borderline Tales, and Fowl Feathered Review as well as in two anthologies of short plays from Fresh Word International Press.
